Description This massive creature is somewhat like a giant hermit crab.  It uses the landscape for its camouflage and shelter.
Starting early in life the creature gathers small stones, dirt and shrubs and plants them on it’s back. As it becomes older and grows, it’s portable home becomes more massive and thicker.
The larger they are, the more impressive it’s backpack of scenery, sporting full grown cacti and even wildlife.
It’s easy to travel right over Big Bad Maw without ever knowing it…until it comes for you.
Its most distinct feature is it's enormous sticky tongue. The tongue has a reach of 50 feet or more and is flexible and sensitive enough to attack and grapple targets without the creature ever seeing the prey, including those behind it or who might be slumbering on Big Maw's back.
Special Attacks Sticky tongue (improved grab, (special attack): Upon a successful attack a victim must make a REF save DC 10+ damage done (by the tongue) or they are captured. The tongue can capture large or smaller sized creatures.
If failed the victim is grabbed and pulled to the Maw (15 feet per melee round) where they are chewed up by the Maw.
The Tongue has an AC of 20, and 3 Hit points for each hit dice the creature has (30 HP base). A severed tongue takes a week to regenerate fully. Only cutting the tongue will release the victim

Maw (special attack): It chews for 3d6 damage per round until the victim is dead (and swallowed). It takes a Strength DC 25 and a full round action to escape the maw. Attacks by the victim are at -4, but their attacks bypass the armoured shell (damage reductions) since they have clear shot of the soft innards. While it chews Big Bad Maw cannot attack with the tongue until it is done feeding.

Surprise Rush (special attack):
The creature can unleash a massive rush attack. It can move 30 feet in a single burst of speed; the attack zone is 30 feet across, requires a Ref save DC 25 to avoid.
Damage is 3d4 to everyone in the area, and victims are knocked down and loose initiative. It can use this attack once per day.
Special Qualities Armored shell (Ex): Hardness: 15 (damage reduction against all physical attacks and physical like magical attack (fire, electrical, etc.), except its tongue and innards).

Camouflage (Ex): Looks like a hill, a small mountain or some other natural out cropping and often silently buries itself to conceal it’s present. A local knowledge or wilderness skill roll opposed by the creatures disguise roll (+10) will determine that the outcropping is unnatural and wasn’t there before.
A spot or search check versus the creature’s disguise roll determines the outcropping is unusual or similar to one that the party saw a few miles back but not that it is actually following you.
Combat Big Bad Maw is an opportunistic predator, though is just as likely to sleep through an encounter as it is to attack.
It buries itself in loose sand and constantly adds to its camouflage in hopes of fooling prey.
When prey comes near when Big Bad Maw is awake she uses her Surprise Rush attack, taking out the group and devouring the closest and largest meal by snaring it with its tongue.
Often victims well pass right over the back of the creature or even camp there. Big Bad Maw uses its tongue to snag prey one at a time quickly and quietly in the night as the travelers slumber on what they thought was a safe little hill.
